Game Roles

Cowctus (Prey Roles)

  • Cow players rely on mimicry, movement, and spatial awareness to survive.

Player cows move identically to NPC cows, creating deliberate visual ambiguity.

To gain points and increase size, players must continuously interact with NPC cows, which also increases their visibility and risk.

This creates a dynamic tension between growth and exposure.

Shark Mech (Predator Role)

  • The mech player functions as an active detector rather than a pure chaser.

The mech is equipped with a red scanning beam used to distinguish real player-controlled cows from NPC cows. Sustained exposure to the beam causes player cows to shrink, lose score, and eventually be captured, resulting in elimination.

This design shifts the shark’s role from constant pursuit to observation, deduction, and timing.

NPC Design and Deception Mechanics

NPC cows are designed to mirror player behavior exactly, forming the core deception system. NPC cows:

  • Share the same animations and movement logic as player cows
  • Populate the environment densely
  • Act as both camouflage and scoring opportunities

The mech player must rely on behavioral cues rather than visual distinction, reinforcing a psychological layer of gameplay.

Tone and Player Experience

The game frames tension through absurdity rather than horror or realism.

Risk–Reward System

The size mechanic serves as a visible, readable risk–reward loop.

  • Touching NPC cows increases size and score
  • Being scanned reduces size
  • Continuous scanning leads to capture

Larger cows are:

  • More valuable
  • Easier to detect
  • Slower to hide

This system ensures that optimal play always involves calculated risk, not passive avoidance.

Level Design

The arena is intentionally dense, circular, and visually noisy.

The map contains:

  • Numerous obstacles
  • Environmental cover
  • NPC cow clusters
  • Five distributed button-based objectives

The circular layout prevents corner camping and encourages constant movement, while environmental clutter disrupts clean sightlines for the mech.

Cooperative Escape Objective

Winning is achieved through cooperation rather than individual survival.
Cow players must collectively trigger five button-based tasks across the arena to unlock the escape gate.
Even if some players are eliminated, the remaining cows can still succeed, reinforcing teamwork over self-preservation.

This creates a shifting endgame where:

  • The mech pressures time and space
  • Cows balance stealth, scoring, and cooperation

Core Concept Overview

This game is a five-player asymmetric multiplayer experience combining elements of hide-and-seek, Red Light–Green Light, and chase-based gameplay.

One player takes on the role of a shark piloting a mech, while four players play as cactus cows attempting to survive, grow, and escape.

The game embraces an absurd tone, using exaggerated characters and----

mechanics to create tension through contrast rather than realism.

By combining identical NPC behavior, visible risk mechanics, and cooperative win conditions, the design creates a constantly shifting balance between hiding, growing, and escaping, resulting in a playful yet tense multiplayer experience driven by player psychology rather than mechanical complexity.

Character 3D& Rigging Display

The character design embraces absurdity and humor through exaggerated contrast.

As the shark’s score increases, cosmetic rewards such as different hats are unlocked, adding visual progression and reinforcing the game’s lighthearted tone despite the predator–prey dynamic.

    Final Game Test

"This game explores how deception, asymmetry, and shared objectives can generate emergent social gameplay. "
